Makkiy Dan Madaniy
meaning

The Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam separately for 23 years where he has more to spend in Mecca. In this case, Allaah says (which means),
"And the Qur'an was sent down by gradually so that you read it slowly to the man, and We sent it down piece by piece." (Q.s., al-Isra ': 106)

Therefore, the scholars divided the Qur'an into two parts, namely Makkiy and Madaniy:
1. Makkiy is verse / letter revealed to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam before he migrated to Medina
2. Madaniy is verse / letter revealed to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam after he migrated to Medina

Based on this, the Lord Almighty (which means),
"This day have I perfected for you your religion and I have both ends meet My favor unto you, and have chosen for you Islâm as your religion is." (Q.s., al-Mâ`idah: 3)
Including paragraph Madaniyyah even revealed to the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam during the Farewell Pilgrimage' in 'Arafah, Mecca. (Because it was dropped when the Prophet migrated to Medina-red.)

In Sahih al-Bukhariy of 'Umar bin al-Khattab radliyallahu' anhu that he said, "We already know that day and place where the verses revealed to the Prophet. He fell when he was standing (wuquf)

Makkiy privileges on Madaniy

1. From Side uslub (English Style)

2. From Side Theme

Usually in paragraph Makkiyyah there is determination and faith 'belief that the straight, especially with regard to Uluhiyyah faith and the faith of the resurrection because most people who talk still deny it.
While in paragraph Madaniyyah, usually contain details about the issue of worship and mu'malat because people talk already embedded in their hearts faith and beliefs are straight so they are in need of details about the problems of the religious and mu'amalat.


In paragraph Madaniyyah mention of jihad and its laws as well as those Munafiqun and their conditions because conditions are so demanding, that was disyari'atkannya jihad and the emergence of the Munafiqun. This is in contrast with verses Makkiyyah.
Benefits Knowing Madaniy And Makkiy

Knowing Makkiy and Madaniy is one of the types of sciences of the Qur'an, which is very important. Because in it there are a number of benefits, including:

Balagha al-Qur'an appear in the highest level, where he spoke to each race according to the demands of their condition; strong and hard or soft (lightly).
